Dollar General 50% off Coupon Update

I had a rough day on Thursday and needed some retail therapy on Friday to set my mood straight again.  I don't normally shop at Dollar General but with the 50% off coupon I mentioned here I figured I had to check it out.

There are some really awesome deals to be had with this coupon and I wanted to report back on some of the items that I found worked with this coupon.  There's no list of items included so it's all pretty much trial and error.  Here's some things that worked for me:

Hampers
Laundry Baskets
Storage Containers
Hangers
Photo Frames
Cleaning Products (Clorox Toilet Wands and Refill Heads*)
Kitchen Items (colanders, etc)
Towels/Wash Cloths
Buckets/Storage Caddys
Aluminum Disposable Pans
Kids Water Bottles

Here's a list of what I found that was not part of the 50% off coupon:

Garden/Outdoor
Anything you use a Manufacturer Coupon on

You may also want to check out the clothing.  Several items are on clearance and with the Dollar General low prices, clearance items are dirt cheap.  I picked up some sweat pants for my hubby for $4.25 each and long sleeve layering V neck t's for myself for $3 each.  I also spotted some infant/toddler Fisher Price clothing sets (shirts and pants) for $3 a set.

Remember this coupon expires on the 27th so you need to jump on this one.  You can print the coupon 5 times per computer.

*Look for boxes of Clorox Wands that have a $5 rebate on them.  These are priced at $10, so $5 after the 50% off coupon and then the rebate makes them FREE!

Farm & Fleet Clothing Clearance

It's that time of the year again!  Farm & Fleet has some really good clearance deals right now on kids clothing.  There are several racks of clothing on clearance with an additional 25-50% off.  I was able to pick up some nice cozy footed Carter's jammies for about $6 each and I picked up two Columbia fleece for my son for next year for about $10 each.  YAY!   Stop over and take a look, you are sure to find something.

FREE Swiffer Dusters Extender and Refills - with a small MM @ Wal-mart

I found this deal at Wal-mart yesterday and was really excited about it (I know, it doesn't take much to get me excited about a deal!).  I love the Swiffer Dusters, they are the best for dusting.  I was very low on refills for my Swiffer Duster, so I have been keeping my eye out for a deal.  Nothing has been really great so I was just going to bite the bullet and grab some refills at Wal-mart with the $1.00 off  Duster/Sweeper coupon from the P&G yearly coupon booklet.  When I looked around I found something that looked like a deal - this magazine offer was hanging from the handle of some of the Swiffer Dusters Extenders.

I am loving all these magazine offers lately that give you the option to get a refund for the price of the subscription instead of the magazine itself and I took a chance that this was one of them.  You can't actually read about the BONUS until you cut it in half to reveal your code.  This one gives you that option and it turns out to be a really good one - $12 refund!!

Here's how I worked this deal to get the most for my money, and a small MM to boot!

Buy one Swiffer Dusters Extender $8.97 (make sure it has this tag, not all did)
Buy one Swiffer Dusters Refill $7.97 (my store only had the 10 count boxes)
TOTAL = $16.94

Use $1.00 off any Swiffer Duster/Sweeper on the Extender from the P&G yearly coupon booklet

Use Get a FREE Swiffer Duster refill WYB Swiffer Dusters Extender Kit (up to $4.99 value) from the 1/30 PG insert (this expires on 2/28 so hurry!)

Now your total is down to $10.95, submit for the $12 subscription refund by 3/31 and you have yourself FREE Dusters and an Extender plus $1.05 MM (not including tax).

A few notes, the Extenders are hanging up above the Swiffer products at my store, I had a hard time finding them at first because I wasn't looking for them hanging up.  Also, my store only had the 10 count refill boxes for $7.97 and the FREE coupon only allows for $4.99 off.  If you can find the smaller $4.99 boxes you will have yourself a bigger MM.   IF you do find the smaller boxes, stop back and let us know what store you located them at.

Dollar General Printable Coupons

My frugal friend Dawn found a great deal at Dollar General that she shared with me today.  Right here are some printable coupons for Dollar General store. There's one coupon for 50% off Decor, Housewares and Domestics.  This coupon is only good from 2/1/11 thru 2/27/11 and appears to be an unlimited print coupon - I printed it three times.  This coupon is good for 50% off your ENTIRE purchase of all Home Decor, Housewares, Kitchen, Bed Pillows, Sheets & Rugs.

Dawn mentioned that she was able to use this coupon for 50% off all storage bins/containers.  She scored some for as low as $1.25 each!  If one of your New Year's resolutions was to be more organized, this just may be the best deal to get you on your way.  She also mentioned that there were file bins/totes and those would be great for storing all those dated coupon inserts.  If you take advantage of this coupon, come back and let us know what you found!  I plan on stopping there tomorrow.

Thanks, Dawn!

Habitat for Humanity - ReStore

Habitat for Humanity has wonderful stores where you can purchase household items at discounted prices.  It's a win-win situation for the buyer and Habitat for Humanity.  The buyer gets a great deal on something they need, and Habitat for Humanity gets much needed funds to help less fortunate individuals.

The store called "ReStore" carries brand new merchandise as well as slightly used items.  They have everything from appliances, furniture, fixtures and even the kitchen sink!  If you are doing any kind of renovation, remodel or upgrade you might want to consider checking them out first, before heading to the retail stores.  I have heard that the big chain retailers like Home Depot and Lowe's actually donate items to ReStore/Habitat for Humanity.  These could be brand new appliances that have a scratch or dent or maybe last years model that they need to move to make room for new merchandise.

If you are on the tail end of a renovation or remodel, why not consider donating your items to Habitat for Humanity?  Changing out your decor and getting new furniture?  Call ReStore and look into donating your used furniture.

For more information about ReStore, including locating a store near you, click here.  I am lucky enough to have two ReStore locations within about 30 minutes driving time from my house.  I have also added a link directly to ReStore on the sidebar for your future use!

Walgreens 2/13 thru 2/19

Walgreens is really quite blah this week.  Since there's not much in the way of Register Reward promos, I headed over to Jewel to spend my time and RR's on the ConAgra Catalina promo running thru Wednesday.  The only spectacular deal I spotted at Wags was for diapers, which we now are constantly in need of since our new daughter's nick-name is "Princess Poops-A-Lot"!  :-)

Walgreens brand premium diapers are on sale this week for $8.99 a pack, B1G1F.  The B1G1 sale brings the price down to $4.49 a pack, which I have learned is a pretty decent price for a package of diapers.  You can turn this into a great price by using the $2 off coupon in the new Walgreens Infant Care coupon booklet.  If your store does not have this coupon booklet out yet, most cashiers will let you give them the code of the coupon to use, and this code is 2844.  At my store, the Wags store coupon took off $2 for each pack, even the FREE one.  I have read that some registers are not taking off the $2 on the FREE package so you will want to watch for this.  Anyway, with the store coupon your price per package is reduced to $2.49 a pack.  Now that's a diaper deal and surely a stock-up price!

I had never used Walgreens diapers before so when I got home with my first couple packs I gave them a try right away.  They are similar to any other store brand diapers.  I wouldn't say that they compare to the brand names, but they are worth it to use during the day when you are just staying home and not out and about.  I wouldn't trust them overnight or if we would be out for any length of time when I had to rely on a good diaper to hold up.  I will be going back for more and will stock up on several sizes at this price.  My only recommendation on this one if you are going to take advantage of this deal, don't stock up too much on these because the $2 Wags coupon does not expire until 12/31/11. With an expiry date like that, we are sure to see another deal on these before it expires, and who knows, it may be a BETTER deal! I have read that in the past, these diapers have been FREE - FREE is good!

I have read that some of the Wags wipes (which are also part of the B1G1 sale) tubs have peelie coupons on them for $2 off Wags diapers.  I did not look for these when I made my purchase, but I will check for these when I head back today to grab some more diapers.  I will report back what I find out!

Diapers and Formula...Oh, My!

Hello Frugal Friends!  I know it's been a week since I posted about any deals but I have a good reason.  On 2/5/11 our family of three became a family of four!  I want to introduce you to the newest coupon diva, Jade Marie!
Jade came home from the hospital and was placed with us for adoption on 2/6/11.  She was born healthy at 8 lbs. 7 oz. and 19.5 inches long.  She has been sleeping great, which makes mom VERY happy!  I just hope it continues!

I am aiming to continue to bring you great deals and frugal tips because I love helping you save, but for the meantime, there will probably be a lull in posts here, at least until we get situated and into a routine.  There are plenty of blogs on the sidebar that can help you with scenarios for just about any store you want to shop at.  I don't see myself doing too much shopping until we are settled, except for the basics.  We are living off our stockpile and the most generous ladies at our church who have been providing us with dinners several evenings of the week.

I will be here so feel free to call, comment, e-mail, text...whatever, if you have questions or find a great deal.  If there's something you want me to share with other frugal friends send me an e-mail in a format that I can copy and paste and I will be happy to post it for you!  Oh, and if you find an awesome deal on anything baby, I would LOVE to hear about it!

And yes, she has already made her first stop at Walgreens on the way home from the hospital to get formula and nursery water - with coupons and RR's of course!  ;-)

Sugar & Spice

Let's spice things up a bit!  With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I have shown you how to get something sweet for cheap here - but what if chocolate isn't what you were looking for?  Well, if you want something a little more romantic for that special someone in your life, then I have a couple deals for you!

Right here is a coupon for $3.00 off ANY KY brand product (excluding trial sizes).  Wal-mart has KY jelly for $2.62 each.  Use the $3 coupon to gain .38 in overage for each one that you purchase (choose your cashier wisely and if you shop at the same store that I do, there's none on the shelf right now).  There may be another $3.00 off coupon here too, I printed it yesterday but I am not seeing it there today.  You can also use the $2.00 off coupon from the 1/30 SS and pay .62 each for these.

Next, if you "like" Couples Place by KY on Facebook here you will be able to print a $7.00 off coupon for any KY brand premium product.  This includes Yours and Mine, Intense and Intrigue products.  The Yours and Mine is on sale at Wags this week for $14.99 (regularly $19.99) and the Intense is on sale for $24.99 each.  The regular price of the Yours and Mine is $14.98 at Wal-mart.  This $7 off coupon would make for a nice price on either of these at Walgreens or Wal-mart.  Now, if you can wait until next week (I know it will be difficult to!), it's being reported that the Yours and Mine will be on sale at Target for $14.99 each with a $5.00 gift card in return for your purchase.  Use the $7 coupon, pay $7.99 and get back $5.  That makes this only costing you $2.99 plus tax!

Valentine's Day is a great reason to take advantage of these deals, but think ahead.  Do you have any upcoming special occasions that you may need something like this for?  A romantic getaway weekend, a gag gift, an upcoming anniversary?  My sister is getting married in June and I am her matron-of-honor.  I will be throwing her a bachelorette party and these will make great gifts for a "personal" shower or bachelorette party.  :)  I can't wait to see her face when she opens it!

The Krazy Coupon Lady

My frugal friend and fellow krazy coupon lady, Nicole, shared a book with me that I think you might like.  It's called Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey and it's all about teaching the step-by-step techniques of being a savvy coupon shopper and money-saving extraordinaire.  I am about half way though reading the book and it is written very well.  I can't say that I have learned anything new from the book because I have been couponing for awhile now, but anyone who is just becoming interested in couponing will find it really useful.  If you have been couponing for awhile now, it's still a fun read.  It's filled with funny stories, comparisons and lots of humor.  If you want to get more info about the book (maybe you can get it at your local library and read it for FREE) or look into buying it, here's a link right to it.

The authors of the book also have a money saving blog, so I have added that to our list on the sidebar.  If you want to check it out right now, click here

FREE Puzzler World App

I have to admit, I am a bit addicted to the game "Words with Friends".  It's an App that I have on my iPad.  It's a game that is similar to Scrabble and I can play with family and friends, any time of the day or night.  I constantly have  games going with many family members at the same time.  You can play at your leisure - lots of fun, and a really easy way to waste a lot of time!  Words with Friends is FREE and you can find it by going here to the iTunes App store.  There's versions for the iPhone and iPad.  If you already play this game or you get it soon, I would love to start up a game with you!  Send me an e-mail with your user name.

If you really like these kind of games there's a FREE offer right now if you "like" the App Store on Facebook.  Just go here and click on the "like" button.  By doing this you will get the App "Puzzler World US" for FREE.  This App has over 1,000 games like Crosswords, Sudoku, Spot-the-Difference and many others.  This game is normally $2.99, and this offer is for a limited time.

Walgreens 1/30 thru 2/5

With this blizzard on it's way, I decided to do ALL my weekly shopping yesterday.  I was tired by the end of the day!  I made it to two Wags stores, Hilander/Kroger, Sam's Club and Wal-mart - and I helped for an hour in my son's Kindergarten class.  WHEW - talk about exhausted!

There's lots of good MM's and deals at Wags this week so lets get started:

With Valentine's Day just around the corner I have some "sweet" deals to report! Bags of Hershey's Mini's or Drops are on sale 2/$6.  In the 1/30 SS insert there's a manufacturer coupon for $2 off TWO bags.  There's also a Walgreens store coupon for $2.00 off TWO bags in the February monthly coupon booklet.  Stack those and that brings the price of these down to $1.00 a bag, and that's a great deal!  If the shelf is empty, look around the store.  I found some on hang pegs up by the registers too.

My frugal pal Renea reported that she tried this Russell Stover Private Reserve candy deal and it worked out perfectly.  She used the $1 coupon from 12/12 S and got these candies for $1.24.  The boxes are actually ringing up $2.24 (regular $9.99) so with the coupon this is a STEAL!  If you are concerned that it won't ring up $2.24, just have a cashier price check before you buy.

Next, here you can print a $1.00 off TWO Butterfinger Snackerz coupon.  These will ring up 2/$1.59.  Use the $1.00 off manufacturer coupon and stack that with the in-ad Butterfinger store coupon to turn this into a small MM.  Hand over the manufacturer coupon first which brings your cost down to .59 for TWO.  Then hand over the store coupon which will take off .82 for each TWO on your receipt.  Turns this into a .23 MM for each TWO that you purchase.

If you were lucky enough to print the $2.00 off Cottonelle printables that were available at Common Sense With Money earlier in the week (no longer available) you have a really great deal on TP.  The Cottonelle 12 BIG roll packs are on sale for $5 this week.  Use that $2.00 off coupon stacked with the $1.00 off coupon from the new monthly coupon booklet and get 12 rolls for $2.00.  That comes out to .17 each double roll, well below my target price of .25 a roll.  Even though Cottonelle is my least favorite TP, for that price I will use it.

There's an under-advertised MM this week that I want to share with you.  If you have the right coupons you can turn this product into a $5.01 MM for yourself.  The Neuragen is on sale right now for $14.99 each, with a $10 RR in return.  If you have the current Diabetes and You Wags Magazine there's a $10.00 off coupon in there for this product...you see where I am going with this!  If you don't have the magazine, there's still hope.  Read on....if you participated in the previous Neuragen MM that was with a MIR here back in November, you should have already received your rebate check and with that rebate check was a coupon for this product, you guessed it - $10.00 off!  See how your original MM deal can turn this into another great opportunity?  Neuragen, the manufacturer that keeps on giving!! :)

There's a few various other MM this week:

Arnicare Gel, $5.99 with a $6 RR in return.  Use this $2 printable which turns this into a MM.  This is a .pdf that doesn't expire until 2012 so save this one for future use!  (this coupon beeps, but the cashier should push it through)

Blink Tears, $7.99 with a $8 RR in return.  Use the $1 coupon from the 1/2 SS for another MM.

Natrol Melatonin is again on sale for $3 with a $3 RR making them FREE.  Use the $2 coupon from the 10/10 RP to make $2 on this one.  There were also some coupons that were in previous boxes purchased, so check your other packages if you got in on this one before...another product that keeps on giving!

Icy Hot No-Mess Gels are on sale for $3.99 with a $3 RR in return.  Use the $1 coupon in the 1/30 SS to get these for FREE.  Note that the kids version is also part of this promo and these were located in the same area as the cold and cough medicines.

There was a new $1.00 off ANY Vicks product coupon in the 1/30 PG insert to get you some more free Vicks drops.  These are usually up by the front registers.

I needed a few fillers to roll some RR's this week so here's what I added into my transactions:

* Green Giant canned veggies are .79 each with in-ad coupon, not the super best price, but when I use fillers I like them to be something that we will actually use.

* Van Camps Pork and Beans are 2/$1 with in-ad coupon.  Not the best beans but if you "doctor" them up with brown sugar, mustard, ketchup and garlic or onion powder they are pretty good!

* .99 Hallmark card (needed it)

* A-Jax powder cleaner is .33 each with in-ad coupon.
