Angel Food Ministries

Angel Food Ministries (AFM) is a wonderful way to help cut down on your grocery costs.  AFM is a non-profit organization designed to bring low cost meats, produce, etc. to families across the country.  Included in the AFM menu of boxes are many items that we don't normally see coupons for like produce, dairy and meats, which is why this organization is so wonderful - it fills a gap in our deal seeking adventures.  You can go to the AFM website and simply put your zip code in to find local "host sites" where you can order through and pick up your purchase.  While you are there take a look at what the menu offers this month, you will be amazed at the prices!  You can also read the history behind this organization.

Remember, this is a non-profit organization so they are not in this to make money - they are in this to help families who are struggling to make ends meet.  In addition, $1.00 for each box purchased is donated back to the "host site" organization.

  1. There are several organizations out there like this - one I use is Food Share America. I like how they offer smaller boxes and customizable boxes for different sized families. They also offer ala-cart. The offer a coupon every month and seem to concentrate healthy offerings. www.foodshareamerica.com

  2. Food Share is a great one, but Angel Food Ministries has been around for over 15 years. They have created a reputation for offering a variety of specials each month with a great choice of frozen and fresh items. Angel Food Ministries also offers a coupon every month, and has been doing that for over a year now. Angel Food Ministries has over 5,000 host sites in the United States. This allows more access to an untapped resource for families.

  3. Thanks for pointing out that there are other organizations just like AFM, I didn't know that there were others that worked the same way. It looks like Food Share America (FSA) is not as large as AFM and there are no host sites in my area (Illinois) for FSA. Maybe they will be expanding soon and I can give them a try! Thanks again for sharing your information.
